“The Kid Who Would Be King” is a great movie for any adventure lover.

In this remake of a classic story, “A Sword in the Stone”, a 12-year-old boy named Alex (Louis Ashbourne Serkis) and his best friend Bedders (Dean Chaumoo) go on an exciting adventure after Alex pulls out The Sword in the Stone from a block of cement in a construction site.

When a young wizard named Merlin (Angus Imrie) shows up and warns the two about the dangers of Morgana, King Arthur’s evil sister who wants the sword, Alex and his friends form armies of children to stop her.

The special effects are mesmerizing, and reminiscent of Harry Potter. The acting was very natural and showed lots of emotion. Imrie especially was very funny, playing a wizard trying to be a normal teenager.

Kids will enjoy probably this movie more than adults, because the kids are leading the action. Children will never get bored with this fantastic and humorous tale of heroism. On a scale of fine to amazing, I rate it a really good.
